RDS launches new data service for research

Martin Sinclair joins the Research Data Scotland (RDS) Board of Trustees, which brings finance expertise to the membership.
The board is responsible for the effective governance and development of RDS and supports the directors in overseeing the delivery of the strategy, monitors key risks, and ensures resources are managed effectively.
Martin is a qualified accountant and auditor with more than 30 years’ experience as an external auditor of central government working on behalf of the UK Parliament.
For 15 years, prior to his retirement in 2015, he was a Management Board Member of the National Audit Office (NAO). During that time, he led the NAO’s financial audit practice for 10 years and has worked as a consultant in public financial management and corporate governance in a number of EU countries.
Commenting on joining the RDS Board, Martin said: "I’m delighted to be joining Research Data Scotland’s Board of Trustees. Data plays a huge role in all of our lives, and I’m pleased to be able to help steer RDS’s activities to meet its aims."
Professor Roger Halliday, Interim CEO of RDS, said: "Martin Sinclair will make a great addition to the Board of Trustees. He brings a wealth of experience from over 30 years in government and third-sector organisations, which will help us to deliver in our mission to make it quicker and simpler to do research and improve lives."
