Our board is responsible for the effective governance and development of Research Data Scotland, supports the directors in overseeing the delivery of our strategy, monitors key risks, and ensures resources are managed effectively.
Dr Emma Gordon is the Director of Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK), an Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) investment, which is opening up secure access to government administrative data across the UK, to support research and inform policy decisions. She is also the Director of ADR England, one of four national partnerships that, with the Office for National Statistics (ONS), make up the ADR UK partnership.
She joined ADR UK from HM Treasury, managing the Government Economic Service and Government Social Research profession. Prior to this she was Head of Health Analysis at the ONS.
Commenting on her appointment as Advisor to the RDS board, Emma said:

I share RDS’ vision of enabling secure access to public sector data to facilitate data-driven research and innovation in the public good. I will aim to bring valuable insights to the board, drawing on my current and previous roles, so RDS can be effective in advancing people’s wellbeing in Scotland.”
