28 Mar 2024

We’re excited to share our first ever Highlights and Impact report, reflecting on the progress and connections we’ve made since we were established as a charity in 2021, all the way through to our latest projects.

Our vision at Research Data Scotland (RDS) is to connect researchers to public sector data making it faster and simpler to generate evidence to help others improve society. We work with other organisations in Scotland and the UK to build on, and transform, key aspects of the data research system.

Our work on this is underpinned by a commitment to the public good as well as to safety and security.

Our report is published online which you can explore at your own pace to discover more about our activities.

Check out:

  • Our impact: discover our activities across the themes of systems leadership, working with partners and stakeholders to suggest technical changes to the data system, and our role in coordinating the Scottish Safe Havens Network.

  • Strengthening collaboration: how we are contributing to the ADR Scotland programme, our commitment to public engagement and developing our partnerships and events.

  • Shaping our services: Researcher Access Service and upgrading our website.

“The next year promises to be exciting as we move towards standard operation and to faster and simpler data access.”

Professor Roger Halliday, CEO of Research Data Scotland

Professor Roger Halliday, CEO of RDS said: “By leading change collaboratively with partners, building on strong relationships, RDS intends to align approaches, standards and policies that enable data sharing at pace for research that helps to save time and money, and improve wider society.

“The next year promises to be exciting as we move towards standard operation and to faster and simpler data access.”
