Research Data Scotland has been shortlisted for a series of awards in May this year.

Two of our projects have been recognised this awards season, making the shortlists of the Business Charity Awards, British Data Awards, and the DataComms Awards.

The Researcher Access Service, a streamlined end-to-end digital service that enables faster and simpler access to research data in the public good, has been shortlisted for both Best Digital Innovation category at the Business Charity Award, and for Data for Good Initiative of the Year at the British Data Awards. Created and managed collaboratively with electronic Data Research and Innovation Service (eDRIS), which is part of Public Health Scotland and one of RDS’s founding partners, the Researcher Access Service has been designed around the needs of researchers and data users.

Our video explainers have also received recognition from this year’s DataComms Awards, where we’re nominated for the Best Use of Animation category. These three public-friendly guides, which are also available in British Sign Language, give viewers insight into data security, data linkage, and synthetic data.

Layla Robinson, Chief Partnerships and Strategy Officer at Research Data Scotland said:

“These award nominations are testament to how much progress we’ve made over the past year in making it faster and simpler for researchers to access data for the public good. While it would be fantastic to bring home the gold next month, it’s exciting to be recognised alongside some really inspiring projects that are happening across the data community in the UK.”

All three awards ceremonies take place in May 2025.

These nominations follow a shortlisting in the Digital Transformation category for Holyrood Event’s Digital Health and Care awards.
